A competitive girls dance team are dead set on rising to the top of the dance world. But their bodies are going through changes- and so are their minds: constantly looking at your reflection and trying to discover who you’re looking at- judging everything about yourself- that’s what growing up can be. Not to mention the constant pressure to be the best and win that gold medal. But there’s also the good times- the fleeting moments of childhood where you can imagine yourself flying amongst the stars- the giggling and joking in the locker rooms- These are the bonds between girls that won’t be forgotten.
To adjust for a play about dance with multiple locations- the set was created with a series of sliding and rotating panels which would be rearranged throughout the show. Faced with either selective mylar “mirror” or sparking awards/stars.
